Sun-Smile-Hypothesis

Question: Why does smiling communicate positivity? Answer: Because it's related to the sun.

The sun is the bringer of life. The sun means warmth and light. The sun is a positive force in the world, and people intuitively understand this.

The sun shines bright, and if looked at, causes people to squint their eyes. The squinting of eyes causes people to lift their cheeks up, and thus it looks like they're smiling. If the person additionally breathes in with their mouth, it looks like they're smiling wide.
